Cask Strength Single Cask

An unusual single-cask Linkwood from Fragrant Drops, distilled in October 2011 and initially matured in traditional oak before being transferred into a fresh first-fill Tequila barrel in April 2022. It remained there until bottling in May 2024, giving this elegant Speyside malt a distinctive herbal and citrus-driven dimension.

Bottled at a robust 58% ABV from cask #9008905, only 232 bottles were produced.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Fresh pear, white grapes and apple with orange zest, candyfloss and a subtle citrus sharpness.

Palate

Lime juice and zest lead into white peach, green grape and sweet malt, joined by fresh mint and green herbal notes from the Tequila cask.

Finish

Long and lively with citrus peel, green herbs, white fruit and warming peppery spice.

Linkwood
(LINK-wood) Linkwood was founded in 1821 by Peter Brown on the Linkwood Estate near Elgin, with production beginning in 1825. His son William Brown rebuilt the distillery in 1874, and the Brown family remained involved until the Linkwood-Glenlivet Distillery Company was formed at the end of the 19th century. Scottish Malt Distillers took control in the early 1930s, bringing Linkwood into what later became Diageo.
