Linkwood 2016 Special Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky 37 Year Old · 1978 Vintage
In stock
A welcome return to the list of Annual Diageo releases in 2016 after 8 years away and the oldest official Linkwood released to date.
Distilled in 1978 and aged in refill European oak butts and refill American Hogsheads with only 6114 bottles available.
The age is deceptive here, very clean & elegant Linkwood and for me one of the real lesser known gems of the Speyside region, stylish and classy malt and showing well for its age.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Golden straw with a delicate honey-amber glow.
Nose
Elegant, fruit-salad aromas of rhubarb and custard, waxy citrus and apricot, delicate florals and herbal hints, marzipan, pears in stock syrup, with a whisper of vanillin oak.
Palate
Silky, syrupy and inviting, the palate delivers pear in vanilla stock syrup, with ginger and ripe melon at the core. Baked apples unfold into rich honey, while spiced oak lends depth, finishing with a bright touch of tangerine.
Finish
Waxy and herbal, the finish carries ripe melon and ginger with orange jelly. Peppery vanillin oak threads through honey, waning into a crisp apple.
