Linkwood Macbeth Act One - Thanes Series - Lady Macduff Single Malt Scotch Whisky 31 Year Old
In stock
A collection of forty-two different whiskies from the length and breadth of Scotland, selected and bottled by Livingstone in partnership with Elixir Distillers. Each whisky represents a character from the Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, with illustrations by Sir Quentin Blake and character notes by Dave Broom.
Lady Macduff is one of twelve noble malts in The Thanes series.
Linkwood is an all-time favourite distillery and it was a thrill to find a 31 year old expression of this Speyside Single Malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1991, that worked so perfectly for Lady Macduff – although I would probably have had to rewrite Macbeth if there wasn’t a place for this amazing whisky.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery undertones and a warm, sunlit glow.
Nose
Rich, elegant nose of aged oak and barley sweetness, brightened by citrus zest. Dried fig and raisin mingle with sherry warmth—dark cocoa, toasted almond, and honeyed vanilla. Subtle spice notes of clove and cinnamon weave through, with a patina of polished leather and a whisper of tobacco. An amber, sun-warmed Speyside perfume that hints at depth to come.
Palate
Silky and substantial, this Linkwood reveals orchard fruits, honey and fig-praline richness, courtly by a sherry-softened core. Spices—nutmeg, cinnamon—drift over polished oak, while almonds and orange zest linger. A long, refined finish with warming vanilla and cocoa.
Finish
An impeccably long finish that lingers with refined grace. Dark orchard fruits and fig give way to candied citrus, toasted almond, and sherry’s warm depth, while spice and cocoa thread through velvety oak. The final echo is silky and contemplative, a residual warmth of polished leather and honeyed oak that slowly fades into the air.
