Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with sunlit honey tones and a coppery gloss that deepens toward amber at the rim.

Nose

Sweet vanilla and caramel lead, backed by toasted oak. Citrus zest and orchard fruits brighten the aroma, while creamy coconut and almond add tropical depth. A touch of baking spice—white pepper and cinnamon—lends a polished bourbon warmth that lingers on the nose.

Palate

Silky and full-bodied, the palate bursts with vanilla, creamy toffee and coconut, brightened by orange zest. Oak-derived spice—white pepper and cinnamon—builds structure, leading to a long, warming finish of vanilla, oak and a touch of tropical fruit.

Finish

Long and warm, the finish unfolds with vanilla and caramel from the ex-bourbon cask, braided with oak spice and citrus zest. A subtle pepper carries through, leaving a creamy, bourbon-influenced warmth that lingers gracefully.

Shizuoka
Shizuoka Distillery was founded by Taiko Nakamura and began producing whisky in 2016 under the Gaiaflow company. Located in the mountainous Oku-Shizu area of Shizuoka Prefecture, the Japanese whisky distillery uses underground water flowing from the Southern Alps and incorporates local materials into production. Its fermentation vessels include washbacks made from Japanese cedar, while both imported and Japanese-grown barley are used across its single malt releases.
