Shizuoka Distillery was founded by Taiko Nakamura and began producing whisky in 2016 under the Gaiaflow company. Located in the mountainous Oku-Shizu area of Shizuoka Prefecture, the Japanese whisky distillery uses underground water flowing from the Southern Alps and incorporates local materials into production. Its fermentation vessels include washbacks made from Japanese cedar, while both imported and Japanese-grown barley are used across its single malt releases.
