Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and mahogany undertones.
Nose
Arresting peat smoke with a maritime bite of iodine and brine, layered by rich sherry fruit—figs and raisins—melting into dark chocolate. Leather, tobacco and orange zest weave through vanilla-wood notes, while a faint campfire core lingers, inviting a deeper savor.
Palate
Silky and medium-full on the palate, Port Ellen unfurls coastal peat, iodine and sea-salt with a sherry-bronzed sweetness. Dark fruit—fig, prune, raisin—follows, along with espresso, cocoa and a touch of leather. Oak spice threads through a polished body, leading to a long, smoky finish where mineral notes and salted caramel linger.
Finish
Long and maritime, the finish stays with coastal peat and saline smoke, a whisper of iodine lingering on the palate. Subtle sherried sweetness emerges—dried fruit, cocoa and toasted spices—followed by a refined, coastal graze that fades with elegant warmth.
