Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark amber with copper-gold glints and a mahogany edge.
Nose
Opulent sherry-nurtured nose: prune, fig and raisin meld with treacle, almond and dark chocolate. Subtle vanilla and oak lift the aroma, while orange zest and a whisper of leather and spice add refinement. A restrained, long-lingering bouquet hints at the old Lowland elegance of a silent distillery.
Palate
Silky and lightly oily on the palate, this 28-year-old St. Magdalene presents layers of dried plum, fig and raisin, brightened by orange zest and almond. Sherry-cask depth brings dark chocolate and espresso, with warm spice and polished oak. The finish is long and refined, with a gentle tobacco hint.
Finish
An exceptionally long, refined finish that lingers with subtle sherry-dark fruit and refined spice. Dried figs and raisins unfold into cocoa nibs, toffee and oak, while delicate leather and tobacco drift in the background, fading to a warm, graceful glow.
