Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with a burnished copper-gold gloss and a mahogany-tinted edge.

Nose

Sweet peat smoke wafts over a sea-wind of salt, iodine and kelp. The aroma carries a refined, aged sweetness that hints at sherry influence, with smoky, maritime notes lingering over polished oak.

Palate

Silky, sweet peat smoke coats the palate, anchored by maritime brine and sea-salt minerals. Rich dark fruit, cocoa, and leather meld with refined oak, while a subtle iodine edge threads through. The lingering peat carries a long, gently spicy maritime finish.

Finish

Longrow’s finish is long and coastal, with sweet peat smoke lingering beside a saline, iodine-touched core. Subtle oak and mineral notes fade into a warm, lingering dryness that echoes the whisky’s maritime character.

(LONG-row) Longrow is the heavily peated single malt made at Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, first produced in 1973 as an experiment to prove that an Islay-style whisky could be made on the mainland. It takes its name from a lost Campbeltown distillery that once stood beside Springbank, and what began as a one-off run later became a regular part of production, with Longrow established as one of the distillery’s three core styles alongside Springbank and Hazelburn.
