The 2018 release of Longrow 18 year old is a limited release of just 4800 bottles and matured in 60% Ex-Sherry wood and 40% Ex-Bourbon wood.
Heavily peated 45-50ppm from The Springbank distillery.
Non Chill filtered and natural colour.
Needs some patience to let this truly reveal itself, but once it does there is plenty to enjoy here beyond the peat smoke.
Always an under rated heavily peated malt and tends to get lost in the fog of the big Islay releases.
A campbeltown malt that can compete with the best of Islay.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with rich mahogany undertones and a warm copper sheen.
Nose
Spilt hot milk over singed barley, leafy mulchy garden bonfire smoke, sponge cake notes with dried fruit and mixed peel, cashew nuts, aromatic spice, a touch of candy-shop spice, and coffee fondant.
Palate
A spine of smoke carries rice pudding and singed barley, unfolding into aromatic honey on brown toast. Notes of coffee fudge and toasted hazelnuts mingle with malty praline, while peppery oak threads through, leaving a lingering, softly spiced finish.
Finish
Milky oatmeal with toasted nuts, rice pudding skin, aromatic bonfire smoke, spicy coconut fudge and salted cashews.
