Ben Nevis Single Cask White Port Finish Whisky 10 Year Old · 2002 Vintage
In stock
A wonderful single cask bottle of Ben Nevis that seems much older than its 10 years and tastes more like a dark sherry or madeira cask aged malt than white port.
Rare to find a 100% white port cask aged whisky but on this evidence i will try and seek out more, one of my whiskies of the year in 2015 when i tried this and easily one of the most impressive Ben Nevis releases out there (and beautifully packaged in a wood box to boot).

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a coppery glow and a mahogany edge.
Nose
Raisin loaf and fig rolls lead into honeyed dried apricot, waxy marmalade and blood orange. Chocolate toffee wafers, treacle and ginger weave through brandy snaps, delivering a rich, confectionary aroma with warm spice.
Palate
Dark treacle tart and old-fashioned ginger cake mingle with brandy snaps and dark marmalade. A waxy, thick, dry mouthfeel leads into honey-roasted nuts, fig jam and stock syrup.
Finish
Dry roasted nuts and honey on well-done brown toast open the finish, followed by fig marmalade, ginger and mocha; dried apricots mingle with treacle tart as brandy snaps linger.
