Liquid gold.

Nose

Very clean, sharply defined aromas of stewed dark fruits, subtle spices, and a whisper of background smoke.

Palate

Head-rocking hit from a complex cocktail of flavours that includes dark fudge and dried berries. A pronounced real liquorice is also present, all set against more fragrant, unobtrusive smoke.

Finish

A short, smooth, gently warming finish; think butter sprinkled with smoked paprika.

His son Peter took up the reins soon after and built a significant business and by the end of the 19th century, when blended Scotch was becoming the fashion, Long John’s Dew of Ben Nevis was a successful brand.
