Ben Nevis Macbeth Act Two - Thanes Series - Ross Single Malt Scotch Whisky 28 Year Old
In stock
The Macbeth Series by Livingstone is a Scotch Whisky collection selected and bottled by Elixeir distillers. This remarkable collection is presented with character notes by renowned whisky writer David Broom, and illustrations by one of Europe's most famous illustrators, Sir Quentin Blake.
In a career spanning seven decades, Sir Quentin Blake has illustrated over 300 books including classic works by Roald Dahl such as The BFG, Matilda, and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. He rarely produces any commercial illustration and his work is highly collectable.
Ross is one of twelve noble malts in The Thanes series. Distilled at Ben Nevis, this exceptional malt was allowed to mature for 28 years in refill hogsheads.
Notes about Ross from Oliver Chilton of Elixer Distillers:
“Ben Nevis has become an iconic malt amongst enthusiasts - as it balances theweight and body of malts lost in time, alongside bursts of fruit. The somewhat stubborn but wonderful insistence on the use of brewers yeast in fermentation, and a generally slower approach to spirits production is on full show in this 28 year old, as the fat, fruit driven distillate has been allowed to shine in re-fill hogsheads. Like Ross, it shows enough maturity to always finish on the right side.”.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a honey-gold glow.
Nose
Dark orchard fruits—plum and fig—unfold with dried orange zest and a whisper of vanilla. A subtle sherry‑touched oak, plus bread‑yeast notes from patient fermentation, yield a malty, inviting bouquet that is mature, balanced, and quietly spiced.
Palate
Opulent and substantial, it coats the palate with a fat, fruit-driven core—ripe berries, prune and fig—framed by velvety oak and gentle spice. Rich and refined, the finish extends warmly, with balanced sweetness and a long, elegant resolve.
Finish
An enduring, refined finish that lingers with ripe fruit and malt sweetness, drifting into warm oak and subtle spice. The fat, fruit-driven character carries through, leaving a long, balanced fade—poised, mature and never heavy.
