Lagavulin Feis Ile 2016 - 200th Anniversary Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 18 Year Old

The 2016 Feis Ile release from Lagavulin, an 18 year old single malt expression, matured in a combination of European oak ex-sherry butts and refill American oak hogsheads. Bottled at 49.5% abv and one of 6000 bottles, each undividually numbered. Produced as part of the distillery's bicentenary.

A delicate, soft, sweet nose of vanilla, oak, sherry and citrus underpinned by quite gentle smoke. The palate is noticeably richer with toffee apple, char, pepper and ashiness. There's also a hint of menthol, creamy oaky vanilla and spice. Finish wise, this is long, slightly drying and warming. It has a grassy, ashey, smokey and peppery finish. A very fine Lagavulin indeed.
