A distillery-exclusive Lagavulin bottled in 2018 at 53.5% ABV with an outturn of 6,000 bottles. Matured in first-fill bourbon and additional oak, it was released as a special edition available only through the distillery.
The combination of first-fill bourbon and oak brings layered wood influence to Lagavulin’s signature heavily peated Islay profile, weaving smoke and maritime character with rich oak spice and sweetness.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-bronze highlights and a burnished gold glow.
Nose
Heavily peat-smoked with bold maritime notes of iodine and sea salt, layered with creamy vanilla and honeyed toffee from first-fill bourbon, then warm oak spice of cinnamon, nutmeg and light cedar, imparting a sweet, resinous complexity on the nose.
Palate
Powerful, layered palate of blistering peat and maritime smoke, tempered by sun-washed vanilla and toffee from first-fill bourbon. Rich oak spice coats the mouth, with hints of dried fruit and caramel cream, then a peppery warmth that lingers. The finish is long and saline, carried by smoke and a final kiss of sweetness.
Finish
Long, resinous peat smoke lingers, braided with briny sea salt and warm, toasted oak. Vanilla-caramel sweetness coats the tongue as spicy oak spice threads through the finish, leaving a velvety, smoky afterglow that echoes the Islay coast.
