Colour

Deep copper-amber with a molten-gold glow and bronze-tinged edges, like captured flame.

Nose

Dry, with an immediate, overpowering smokiness that eclipses Lagavulin’s usual profile; charcoal and fragrant peat blaze to the fore, backed by a clean, fresh base-note of sea air and mineral scents. Even with a splash of water, the aroma remains essentially unaltered.

Palate

Smooth, lightly oily and richly sweet at first, then a lemony acidity rises with a saline breeze of sea salt. Mid-palate the fire dries the palate, lifting the sweetness into a salty, smoky surge. A dash of water rounds and sweetens, but smoke remains the star, delivering a long, ember-lit finish.

Finish

A long, lingering finish of peat-smoke that rolls in on waves of spice, the smoky intensity cresting anew and lingering richly through the aftertaste.
