Every year since 2001, Diageo have released a series of Special Releases featuring rare, limited edition whiskies from some of Scotland’s finest distilleries. The 2021 Special Releases are the 20th set in this highly collectable series, and includes 8 Single Malt whiskies, bottled at cask strength, and released in limited quantities. The 2021 series has been titled “Legends Untold” and features striking illustrations and design work from digital illustrator Ken Taylor.
A fiercly rampant Lagavulin that has great intensity of sweetness, saltiness, and perfumed oak spice. This pungent and oily whisky is boldly maritime in character with abundant aromas and flavours of fresh sea spray and dried seaweed. A dense fog from smouldering peat and charcoal embers envelops the palate on the finish.

Palate
Dense, oily mouthfeel with a fierce, sweet-salty profile and perfumed oak spice. Waves of maritime peat, sea spray and dried seaweed coat the palate, leaving a long, ember-dusted finish as the smoke lingers.
Finish
An enduring maritime finish where oily peat coats the palate as salt-laden sea spray and dried seaweed linger. A smoky, ember-dusted fog swirls through the finish, carrying perfumed oak spice and leaving a long, warming saline note that slowly fades.
