Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery sheen and a mahogany-tinted glow.
Nose
Top notes of uplifting citrus peel, lemon zest, spearmint and tarry smoke. As it settles, dried fruits emerge with a salty, meatier edge, and a crunchy maltiness pulls through the aroma.
Palate
Lovely viscosity, more lemon zest and stewed apples, with a medicinal tar flavour – almost mentholic – and sandy. Beneath the fresher tones and layer of smoke (charred pineapple) is a meaty bass line of cured ham, with sweeter notes of sultanas, raisins and toffee.
Finish
Oily, smoky and long-lasting, this finish coats the palate with coastal tar and medicinal warmth. A saline edge lingers as the smoke gradually fades, leaving a soft, enduring memory of Lagavulin.
