Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with coppery highlights and a touch of mahogany.
Nose
Deep peat smoke and sea-salt brine anchor the nose, unfolding into luxurious sherry-finished fruit: fig, raisin and cocoa, with whispers of leather and iodine. The aroma feels tactile and persistent, carried by Islay maritime notes then warmed by old oak and a hint of spice.
Palate
Oil-rich and full-bodied, the palate carries thick peat smoke tempered by lush sherry sweetness. Dried fig, prune and raisin mingle with espresso and dark chocolate, while a saline iodine-briny kick threads through. Velvety texture coats the mouth, leading to a long, warming finish of ash and PX-driven candied fruit.
Finish
Long, smoky and sumptuous, the finish threads Lagavulin’s peat with lush Pedro Ximénez sweetness—dried fig, prune and cocoa give way to toffee and orange zest, while sea-salt, tobacco and a touch of oak linger in a warm, resinous kiss.
