The Tomatin 36 Year Old is a spectacular vatting of traditional oak and 1st fill Oloroso Sherry casks which have been slowly maturing for nearly four decades in Tomatin's warehouses. A smooth, rich, complex single malt packed with luscious stone fruit flavours, sweet honey, dried fruits, and abundant wood spice.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep natural amber with copper-gold highlights and a mahogany edge, a warm, sunlit bronze that hints at its long sherry maturation.

Nose

Ripe stone fruits mingle with honeyed sweetness and dried apricots, unfurling under a sherried, nutty cloak from first-fill Oloroso casks. Hints of warm wood spice, vanilla and toffee rise from polished oak, delivering a lush, age-woven aroma.

Palate

Silky and rich on the palate, it delivers honeyed sweetness and sun-kissed stone fruits—apricot, peach and raisin—from the Oloroso cask influence. Velvet dried-fruit depth mingles with almond, cocoa and warm wood spice. The oak remains elegant, guiding a long, refined finish of orchard fruit, toffee and spice.

Finish

An exceptionally long, luxurious finish. The ex-Oloroso sherry influence paints the palate with honeyed orchard fruits, dried figs and warm spice, slowly unfolding into velvety oak. A persistent, warming glow lingers, inviting another contemplative sip.

(Tom-AH-tin) Established 1897, the Tomatin distillery can be found in the very remote Highland countryside about 25 miles south of Inverness. Like many distilleries over the years, Tomatin has experienced its share of closures. In February 1986 two Japanese companies (Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co.) purchased the distillery, of which Takara Shuzo proudly remains the majority shareholder.
