Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with warm copper-gold facets and a subtle mahogany edge.
Nose
Opulent and intensely sherried, this nose exudes dark fruit richness—prune, fig and raisin—layered with toffee, cocoa and a whisper of orange zest. Rich oak, polished leather and nutmeg drift through a warm, resinous backbone, hinting at the cask strength and single-cask pedigree of this 1979 Coleburn.
Palate
Bold and opulent, this Coleburn coats the palate with sherry-dark fruit, fig and raisin, wrapped in dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Spicy notes of clove and pepper ride over toasted oak, while citrus zest brightens the mid-palate. Full and warming, the finish lingers with toffee, almonds and a resinous, nutty dryness.
Finish
Long, warming finish that lingers with rich sherry fruit and oak. Dried fig and date drift into dark chocolate, toffee and toasted almond, while gentle spice—cinnamon and clove—coats the palate. A persistent, peppery warmth remains, gradually fading into coffee-kissed dryness.
