Coleburn (silent) Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Single Cask #476 Whisky 38 Year Old · 1981 Vintage
Out of stock
A single cask Coleburn bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Private Collection series, this 38 year old was distilled in 1981 and bottled in 2019 after maturation in a sherry cask. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.9% ABV, the release was limited to 101 bottles and comes from this now-closed Speyside distillery.
Sherry cask maturation brings rich dried fruit sweetness, spice and mature oak depth, complementing Coleburn’s traditionally light, fruity and elegant character. Bottlings from this silent distillery are increasingly scarce, offering a rare opportunity to experience a lost Speyside style.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber with mahogany depth and a coppery glow.
Nose
Rich sherry-driven nose of dried fruits—prune, fig and raisin—coats with cinnamon and clove spice, balanced by mature, polished oak. The lavish sweetness broadens Coleburn’s light, fruity elegance into a warm, sophisticated aromatic tapestry.
Palate
Rich dried-fruit sweetness leads the palate, with fig and raisin tempered by warm spice—cinnamon and clove—woven through mature oak. The sherry depth adds a slightly oily, full-bodied mouthfeel, finishing long with more fruit, spice and a refined oak echo.
Finish
Long, luxurious finish of dark dried fruits—figs and raisins—woven with baking spices and mature oak. Sherry sweetness lingers with a gentle warmth, slowly fading into a refined, fruity whisper that mirrors Coleburn’s elegant, light character.
