Distilled in 1976 and bottled in 2023 at 50.4% ABV, this 46-year-old release from the now closed Banff distillery was drawn from a refill sherry butt (#2887) for Gordon & MacPhail’s Private Collection – The Recollection Series #2 and yielded 109 bottles.
One of the rarest expressions from a Highland distillery that ceased production in 1983, this exceptionally long-aged single cask showcases deep sherry influence with layers of rich dried fruit, festive spice, clove-studded orange and marzipan balanced by gentle oak warmth.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with mahogany hues and a warm copper glow.
Nose
Fragrant festive spices weave with clove-studded orange and demerara sugar, followed by subtle toffee, prunes and baked apple.
Palate
Rich stewed red fruit opens the palate, with cinnamon and ginger and a hint of black pepper. Toasted hazelnuts unfold beside marzipan, balanced by mature oak and a touch of sherry sweetness that lingers warmly.
Finish
Medium-bodied and gracefully persistent, the finish releases citrus zest and toasted nuts, with a gentle wave of spice and a whisper of marzipan that slowly fades into refined oak.
