Banff (silent) James MacArthurs Single Cask #2260 Whisky 25 Year Old · 1976 Vintage
Out of stock
Banff fell silent in 1983, and its turbulent history included wartime bomb damage, multiple fires and the final destruction of its last warehouse in 1991, which makes surviving bottlings like this all the more compelling. Bottled by James MacArthur, this 1976 vintage was released in 2001 at 25 years old from single cask #2260, at a natural strength of 57.1% ABV.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark amber with coppery highlights and a warm mahogany glow.
Nose
Opulent nose of dark plum and raisin, wrapped in rich sherry and polished oak. Notes of fig, date and cocoa mingle with warm vanilla and spice—cinnamon and clove—with cedar and a touch of tobacco. A whisper of sea air hints at Banff’s Highland coast, completing a bold, inviting aromatic profile.
Palate
Velvety and full-bodied, this Banff coats the palate with waxy oak and a warm, peppery spine from its 57.1% strength. Rich dried fruit—prune and fig—fused with orange zest, honeyed barley and vanilla. The texture is lush and slightly oily, unveiling dark chocolate and toffee, then a long oak-led finish with gentle spice and a hint of tobacco.
Finish
Very long, warm finish with rich dried fruit, cocoa and orange zest, framed by toffee and spice. The sherry influence lingers softly, giving way to polished oak and a hint of leather, finishing with a refined, nutty sweetness that gradually fades into a delicate, warming glow.
