Pradlo (Silent) Hammer Head Czech Vintage Single Malt Whisky 23 Year Old · 1989 Vintage
In stock
A Czech single malt distilled at the Prádlo Distillery in 1989 using locally malted Czech barley, named for the hammer mill used in production.
Left to mature largely forgotten through the political changes around the Velvet Revolution, it was rediscovered and bottled in 2013 after 23 years in oak. Matured in Czech oak casks and bottled at 40.7% ABV.
The spirit’s age and unusual provenance shape a distinctive character, with orchard fruit and mixed cereal grain notes supported by dried fruit, vanilla and oak structure, along with subtle herbal and spice nuance that reflects extended oak maturation.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a honey-gold glow.
Nose
Aromas lift with orchard fruit—ripe apples and pears—intertwined with warm cereal grain and subtle sweetness. Dried fruits add depth, while vanilla threads through the oak’s backbone. Subtle herbal notes and a whisper of spice linger, shaped by extended oak maturation and Czech oak casks.
Palate
Orchard fruit leads the palate, pear and green apple, woven with toasted cereal grains and a whisper of dried fruit. Vanilla sweetness rises, steadied by restrained oak that lends quiet structure. Subtle herbal and spice notes—cinnamon, nutmeg, a hint of clove—linger into a long, refined finish.
Finish
An extended, polished finish glides with orchard fruit and dried fruit sweetness, carried on vanilla and toasted oak. Subtle herbal and spice notes—cinnamon, white pepper—emerge from the long maturation in Czech oak, leaving a warm, refined echo that lingers with grace and quiet complexity.
