Laid down by ‘Mr George’ Urquhart in 1958, this whisky has been carefully nurtured for 65 years in a first fill Sherry butt. Mr George’s legacy lives with us today through not only his whiskies, but the knowledge entrusted to the generations that followed him.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep burnished amber with mahogany undertones and coppery glints.

Nose

Rich beeswax notes open to molasses, stewed prunes and warming spices. Subtle aged leather unfurls beside mature oak and a whisper of cocoa powder.

Palate

Smooth and full-bodied, it reveals Seville orange peel and morello cherry, giving way to dried tobacco and roasted coffee beans. Toasted oak rises, with a final whisper of liquorice.

Finish

Long and balanced, it trails with a delicate wisp of smoke, lingering over toasted oak, faint cocoa, and dried tobacco. A refined, persistent warmth unfurls into a whisper of spice that softly fades.

Glen Grant
(Glen-GRANT) Glen Grant was founded in Rothes in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, and from the start it built a reputation around innovation as much as whisky. The Grants were involved in the development of the Morayshire Railway Company, helping improve transport through Speyside, and by 1861 Glen Grant had introduced electric lighting. A defining new chapter began in 1872, when James “The Major” Grant took over and expanded the distillery, introducing tall, slender stills and water-cooling purifiers that remain central to the distillery’s lighter, more elegant style.
