The fifth and final release in the Mr George Legacy Series honours Mr George Urquhart’s unwavering pursuit of the perfect dram. Hailed by whisky authority Charlie MacLean as "the father of single malt," Mr George was deeply intrigued by the relationship between spirit, cask, and time.

A tireless innovator, he devoted his life to experimenting with countless combinations in search of greater complexity and depth of flavour. This remarkable single malt is limited to just 130 bottles in celebration of Gordon & Macphail's 130th anniversary.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with copper-gold sheen and mahogany depths, a warm, wine-dark glow.

Nose

Light leather opens to stewed prune and spicy clove, with blueberry compote, vanilla fudge and roast coffee notes emerging, and a delicate cherry lingering.

Palate

Silky and refined, the palate opens with red apple and walnut, with dried orange peel—followed by tobacco and caramelised banana. Dark chocolate entwines with spices and toasted oak, delivering a lingering, elegant finish.

Finish

Medium finish with a hint of smoke and lingering fruit.

Glen Grant
(Glen-GRANT) Glen Grant was founded in Rothes in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, and from the start it built a reputation around innovation as much as whisky. The Grants were involved in the development of the Morayshire Railway Company, helping improve transport through Speyside, and by 1861 Glen Grant had introduced electric lighting. A defining new chapter began in 1872, when James “The Major” Grant took over and expanded the distillery, introducing tall, slender stills and water-cooling purifiers that remain central to the distillery’s lighter, more elegant style.
