Personally selected by members of the Urquhart family that has owned Gordon & Macphail for four generations. Private Collection whiskies are greatly‐aged single malts from celebrated, little‐known, or closed distilleries.

Distilled at th Thamdhu distillery in 1972. This Single Cask 50 year old whisky is one of only 143 bottles. This Private Collection whisky was bottled in 2022 and comes in a deluxe wooden box.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet toffee apple aromas combine witb orange peel and crystallised violets. Fragrant pear gives way to undertones of aged leather and cocoa powder.

Palate

Tart raspberry flavours lead to bright citrus zest and black pepper. Dried exotic fruit comes to the fore alongside toasted almonds.

Finish

Full and spicy finish with lingering sweet fruit and oak.

Tamdhu
(Tam-Doo) Tamdhu was founded in 1897 at Knockando in Speyside by a consortium of blenders led by William Grant, with Charles Doig responsible for the distillery’s design. It passed to Highland Distillers in 1899 and, like a number of Scotch whisky sites, spent long periods silent during the 20th century, including a lengthy closure from 1927 until 1947.
