Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with warm honey highlights

Nose

Bright confection of pear drops and green apples, with banana and orange marmalade. Subtle nutmeg, creamy white chocolate, vanilla fudge, marshmallow and candy cane mingle with marzipan, popcorn and a whisper of burnt sugar.

Palate

On the palate, dark chocolate orange intertwines with treacle tart and liquorice allsorts, backed by a whisper of tobacco and clotted cream. Citrus zest and tea cakes lift the sweetness, while allspice, cereal, trail mix and baklava add warmth and depth, finishing rich, lightly spiced and lingering.

Finish

An enduring, creamy finish of butterscotch and mace, citrus zest and marmalade brightening the palate, wrapped in crème brûlée and vanilla sugar, with a delicate wisp of smoke curling at the edges.

White Peak
White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan in Ambergate, becoming Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery and the first whisky distillery in the Peak District region. Housed in the former Johnson & Nephew Wire Works on the banks of the River Derwent, within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has built its identity around a strong sense of Derbyshire provenance and the industrial history of its home.
