Wire Works Port Cask Single Malt showcases the Derbyshire distillery’s lightly peated style, matured in fresh Tawny Port barriques and first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. The result is a bold and complex whisky with a rich, oily texture. Sweet layers of cinder toffee, vanilla fudge, milk chocolate and marzipan intertwine with vibrant red fruit, cherry pie and strawberry notes, lifted by citrus zest, coffee, and delicate spice. A decadent and well-rounded English single malt.

Deep tawny amber with coppery highlights and a warm mahogany glow.

Nose

Oil-rich and inviting, this nose layers cinder toffee, vanilla fudge and milk chocolate with marzipan. Vibrant red fruit—cherry and strawberry—meets citrus zest, while coffee notes and a whisper of spice lift the aroma. Port-cask maturity adds a warm, caramel-amber depth beneath a light peat glow.

Palate

Oil-rich and bold, the palate unfolds with cinder toffee, vanilla fudge, milk chocolate and marzipan threading through bright red fruits—cherry and strawberry—lifted by citrus zest. Subtle coffee and delicate spice underscore a Port-cask velvet, finishing long and well-rounded with a whisper of peat.

Finish

A long, luxurious finish that coats the palate in oily richness. Cinder toffee, vanilla fudge and marzipan melt into milk chocolate, while bright red fruit—cherry and strawberry—lingers with citrus zest. Delicate spice and coffee threads carry the tail, leaving a warm, port-touched sweetness that slowly fades to soft oak.

White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan in Ambergate, becoming Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery and the first whisky distillery in the Peak District region. Housed in the former Johnson & Nephew Wire Works on the banks of the River Derwent, within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has built its identity around a strong sense of Derbyshire provenance and the industrial history of its home.
