Cask Strength Single Cask

The Madeira wine cask in which this release was matured spent its final months of maturation in the upper levels of the White Peak Distillery's warehouse, where the warmer conditions led to a fuller and more pronounced flavour profile. Bottled at the natural cask strength without added colouring or chill filtration. Just 299 bottles were yielded in this single cask expression.

Tasting Notes

Salted toffee and almond baklava on the nose, before honeyed porridge with wedges of green apple. A delicate smoke conjures notes of antique furniture. Biscoff and Creme Caramel meet the palate, with Demerara sugar, cinnamon and orange zest drawing long into the finish.

White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan in Ambergate, becoming Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery and the first whisky distillery in the Peak District region. Housed in the former Johnson & Nephew Wire Works on the banks of the River Derwent, within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has built its identity around a strong sense of Derbyshire provenance and the industrial history of its home.
