The Wire Works Coastal Smoke release is the result of a dual maturation of the distillery’s lightly peated spirit, distilled using two sets of cut points to enhance complexity. Initially matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels from Heaven Hill and finished in Islay whisky barrels, this expression adds a new dimension to the distillery’s lightly peated style.
The use of mainland peat in malting the barley contributes to the character of the distillate, while the Islay peated whisky that previously seasoned the finishing barrels imparts additional depth, creating distinct layers of flavour in the final whisky.

Colour
Golden amber with sunlit honey tones and coppery highlights.
Nose
Vanilla cheesecake and lemon meringue bloom as a creamy citrusy core, with campfire ash adding a whisper of smoke. Candied ginger and fruit-salad sweets twinkle, while fresh pineapple juice lends tropical brightness. Subtle smoked meats and Murray mints weave in a coastal, lightly peated depth.
Palate
On the palate, a playful confection unfolds: Jaffa cakes’ citrus brightness and jelly baby sweetness mingle with banana, mango and papaya, while peaches and cream richness sits beside peppermint. Rhubarb and fennel add tang and herbaceous lift, with macadamia nut notes rounding the finale.
Finish
Malted biscuits and sage mark the finish’s opening, with lavender notes weaving through a soft lingering peat. Orange marmalade adds warmth as a sherbet kiss lingers, leaving a bright, gently persistent trace.
