The Wire Works Bourbon Barrel release has been crafted from a selection of the distillery’s oldest first-fill American oak bourbon barrels. Each barrel was filled with the distillery’s signature lightly peated spirit, which has matured beautifully over the years, perfectly expressing the fruit-forward character for which the distillery is known.

Nose

Vanilla cheesecake, white chocolate, fruit salad sweets, lemon curd, pear drops, candied ginger, macadamia nuts, lavender, peaches and cream.

Palate

Custard creams, sage, bay leaf, peppermint creams, gentle smoke, lemon zest, icing sugar, chocolate covered peanuts, honey, ginger bread.

Apple crumble with custard, Murray mints, lime pickle, white pepper.

White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan in Ambergate, becoming Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery and the first whisky distillery in the Peak District region. Housed in the former Johnson & Nephew Wire Works on the banks of the River Derwent, within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has built its identity around a strong sense of Derbyshire provenance and the industrial history of its home.
