White Peak’s Wire Works Virgin Oak Finish is an English single malt that uses virgin oak to bring extra sweetness, spice and texture to the distillery’s lightly peated house style. Bottled at 51.7% ABV, this release had an outturn of 3,061 bottles.
The virgin oak finish adds a richer, more assertive layer to the whisky, building on the underlying fruit and smoke with notes of caramelised sugar, spice and toasted wood. It makes for a bolder take on Wire Works, with the fresh oak giving the whisky plenty of warmth and character without overpowering the spirit.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with warm honey-gold tones and subtle copper highlights.
Nose
Leather mingles with caramelised brown sugar and bonfire-toffee, spiced by cinnamon buns and vanilla fudge. Banoffee notes, orchard fruit, boiled sweets, raisins and a whisper of nutmeg.
Palate
Silky milk chocolate and warm spice lead the palate, framed by sandalwood and pistachio. Mace, peppercorn and cinnamon weave through prune and citrus zest, with hints of overripe banana and orange marmalade. Bitter black tea and cigar box lend gravity, while raw honey and desiccated coconut round out a lingering, toasted finish.
Finish
Crème brûlée and butter icing echo through a warm orchard finale of baked apple and fresh cherries, as toasted wood and smoke linger, sharpened by mace and clove for a softly spiced, comforting finish.
