Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich golden amber with sunlit honey undertones and a whisper of coppery warmth.

Nose

Delicate pear drops mingle with green apples and banana, unfurling into orange marmalade and a hint of nutmeg. Creamy white chocolate, vanilla fudge and marshmallow rise with candy cane and marzipan, while popcorn and burnt sugar lend a toasty sweetness. Bright, inviting and softly creamy, the nose promises a lightly peated, oak-kissed core.

Palate

On the palate, chocolate orange and treacle tart lead, wrapped in liquorice all sorts and tobacco. Creamy clotted cream returns with citrus zest and tea cakes, while allspice and cereal add warmth. A trail-mix of nutty sweetness lingers, finishing with baklava richness.

Finish

Butterscotch and warming mace give way to bright citrus and marmalade, settling into creme brulee and vanilla sugar with a soft, lingering wisp of smoke.

White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan in Ambergate, becoming Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery and the first whisky distillery in the Peak District region. Housed in the former Johnson & Nephew Wire Works on the banks of the River Derwent, within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has built its identity around a strong sense of Derbyshire provenance and the industrial history of its home.
