Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, polished amber with mahogany depth and copper-bronze highlights.
Nose
Coastal, peaty aroma with sea-salt air and bold Port Wood influence. Peat smoke mingles with briny iodine, while dried cherries and figs lift into dark chocolate, toffee and toasted oak. A thread of vanilla and spice glows, adding elegance to a resinous, cask-strength warmth that promises generous richness.
Palate
Full-bodied and velvety, this Port Ellen carries dense peat smoke softened by port-wine sweetness. Dried fig, prune and plum mingle with red-berry notes, dark chocolate, and a touch of toffee. Spices—clove and nutmeg—lift over rich oak. The 58% ABV lends a warming backbone as the finish unfolds with maritime minerality, smoke, and lingering fruit-leather.
Finish
Port wood finish delivers a long, opulent fade: dark fruit compote of fig and cherry with a whisper of peat smoke lingering on the palate. Rich vanilla and cocoa nibs weave through spice, while the 58% ABV coats the mouth, fading into a refined, dry oak and tobacco-tinged finish.
