This single cask Scotch Whisky was distilled at Bunnahabhain Distillery, on islay, on the 3rd April 1978. The new spirit was filled into an Oloroso Sherry Butt, cask number 2588, where it remained until bottling in 2023.
A lovely dark amber in colour, the 45 years in cask have created a beautifully rich liquid with ripe rasins, sweet nougat and hints of old cigar box. The mouthfeel is luscious and expansive with a long, satisfying finish. The colour of the whisky reflects only the natural impact from the cask maturation.
The whisky was disgorged and bottled under the distillery manager Andrew Symington in the town of Pitlochry on the 5th October 2023.

Colour
Dark amber with a burnished copper glow, a rich, honeyed hue that hints at its Oloroso sherry maturation.
Nose
Ripe raisins, sweet nougat, and whispers of old cigar box rise from the glass. Oloroso sherry influence coats the aroma with caramel, cocoa, and toasted leather, edged by walnut and aged oak—luxuriously rich and inviting.
Palate
Luxuriously expansive on the palate, this 45-year Bunnahabhain offers dark raisin and fig sweetness, threaded with almond nougat. Subtle cigar-box notes and spice ride the Oloroso-Sherry richness, coating the tongue with velvet depth and delivering a long, refined finish of dried fruit and resin.
Finish
Long and luxurious, the finish lingers with ripe raisin sweetness and velvety nougat, intertwined with hints of old cigar box and sherried warmth. A persistent, elegant echo that coats the palate.
