Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper and mahogany undertones, a glossy honey-gold glow.
Nose
Aromas of peat smoke mingle with rich sherry, releasing dark fig, raisin and cocoa. Coastal brine and iodine lend a sea-kissed edge, while notes of leather and polished oak add depth—an elegant, smoky invitation with restrained, lingering warmth.
Palate
Silky and full-bodied, Port Ellen coats the palate with maritime peat and iodine, supported by dark sherry fruit—fig, raisin, cocoa. Rich espresso and toffee notes emerge, while a spicy, oak-driven backbone and a saline, lingering finish carry through long after the swallow.
Finish
Long and luxurious, this finish threads fragrant peat with rich sherry-soaked fruit, leaving a cocoa-kissed, smoky echo. Maritime salt and warm spice shimmer, fading into toasted oak with a faint kiss of iodine as Port Ellen lingers on the palate.
