Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with mahogany depth and coppery highlights.
Nose
Bold peat smoke with iodine and sea-salt rises, carried by sherry-softened dark fruit—fig and raisin. Layered notes of roasted coffee, cocoa and leather, with vanilla and oak spice, all under a maritime, resinous veil.
Palate
Silky, full-bodied and oily, this Port Ellen coats the tongue with intense peat smoke intertwined with sherry sweetness—prune, fig, dark cocoa and espresso. Sea-salt and iodine lift the mid-palate, balanced by polished oak and warming spice, finishing long with cocoa nibs, resin, and lingering peat.
Finish
An enduring, smoky finish clings with ripe dried fruit, fig and dark chocolate, lifted by sherry sweetness. Peat and sea-salt tones linger against warm oak, delivering a resinous, warming finale that invites another slow sip.
