Colour

Deep amber with burnished copper highlights and a honey-gold glow.

Nose

Rich notes of overripe grape mingle with calf leather, while barley malt sits beneath, with hints of light citrus and a burst of intense spice.

Palate

A rich, salt-caramel-led palate with expansive peat, delivering bright citrus, underscored by touches of mahogany, maple syrup and smouldering malt.

Finish

Freshly zested lemons and a crack of black pepper linger on the finish, a bright citrus bite tempered by peppery warmth.

Port Ellen (silent)
(Port-Ellen) As far as many people are concerned, Port Ellen is one of the great lost distilleries of Scotland. Port Ellen Whisky was founded in 1825 on the south shore of Port Ellen Islay by A. K. Mackay & Co. Closed in 1983 after being mothballed between 1930 and 1967. And with three Islay distilleries on the hands of the owners Port Ellen was the one to close with Caol Ila and Lagavulin surviving the 1980s closures.
