Tasting Notes
Colour
Dense copper-amber with mahogany depth and a warm ruby edge.
Nose
Bold peat smoke dominates, laced with iodine and sea spray. Beneath, lush sherry brings dried fig and raisin, dark cocoa and vanilla-spice. Oak resin and a touch of burnt sugar tie the aroma together, while a saline coastal breeze lingers, inviting a long, warming finish.
Palate
Oil-rich and fiercely peated, this Lagavulin unfurls iodine and sea-salt with a spine of smoke. Sherry sweetness soils the palate—prune, fig and dark chocolate—alongside espresso, leather and toasted barley. At cask strength, warmth broadens into a peppery spine, while a long maritime finish carries charcoal, cocoa and a lingering sea breeze.
Finish
Long and smoky, the finish clings with Lagavulin’s signature peat and coastal salt, softened by sherry fruitiness. Dried fig and prune mingle with dark chocolate and spice, then a resinous, ember-dusted fade lingers, slowly retreating to dry oak and a final whisper of iodine.
