This limited edition from Balblair was distilled way back in 1966 and aged for 38 years in 2nd fill Oloroso Spanish oak casks before bottling in September 2004.

The nose has sweet and spicy hints of sherry and Christmas cake. The palate is full bodied with spicy overtones, followed by a hint of raisin and Christmas cake.

Whisky Magazine scored this whisky over 9 points on several occasions.

Colour

Deep amber with burnished copper-gold hues and a warm mahogany glow in the glass.

Nose

Sweet sherry unfolds with warm spice, evoking Christmas cake. Rich notes of raisin and dried fruit mingle with subtle oak, a festive, opulent aroma forged by 38 years in Oloroso casks.

Palate

Full-bodied and richly spiced, with sherry-driven warmth. Raisin and Christmas cake unfold on the palate, followed by a long, refined finish bathed in spice and subtle sweetness.

Finish

Long, velvety finish of sherry-spice with raisin and Christmas cake, slowly fading into warm oak and lingering spice.

Balblair
(bal-BLAIR) Balblair was founded in 1790 by John Ross at Edderton in the Northern Highlands, overlooking the Dornoch Firth. The distillery remained with the Ross family through much of the 19th century, before being rebuilt in 1894 closer to the railway while continuing to use water from the Allt Dearg burn. Later owners included Hiram Walker, and Inver House Distillers acquired Balblair in 1996.
