Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep mahogany-amber with copper-bronze glints, a rich, sherry-kissed hue that speaks to its indulgent maturity.

Nose

Indulgent overripe apricots and dark licorice rise from the glass, tempered by polished oak and a touch of saddle wax.

Palate

Full-bodied and luxurious, with an oily citrus core, deep chocolate praline and a delicate hint of fresh tobacco leaf.

Finish

A warming, silky finish of smooth chocolate and blood oranges, lingering with citrus-soft sweetness and a gentle warmth that coats the palate.

Balblair
(bal-BLAIR) Balblair was founded in 1790 by John Ross at Edderton in the Northern Highlands, overlooking the Dornoch Firth. The distillery remained with the Ross family through much of the 19th century, before being rebuilt in 1894 closer to the railway while continuing to use water from the Allt Dearg burn. Later owners included Hiram Walker, and Inver House Distillers acquired Balblair in 1996.
