This Single Malt from Balblair is one to savour. Matured for 18 years in ex-Bourbon casks, the Whisky also enjoyed an additional finishing period in Sherry oak. Rich, fruity and autumnal in character, there are notes of baked pears, warm spice and leather.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich toffee and baked pears lead the nose, bright and inviting, with a refined undertone of new leather. Subtle spice threads through the fruit-forward aroma, while vanilla and gentle oak hints from the sherry-finish weave through the depth of scent.

Palate

A masterful balance of juicy apricots, seasoned oak and vanilla custard finish.

Finish

Long and warming with chords of fresh spices and raisins.

Balblair
(bal-BLAIR) Balblair was founded in 1790 by John Ross at Edderton in the Northern Highlands, overlooking the Dornoch Firth. The distillery remained with the Ross family through much of the 19th century, before being rebuilt in 1894 closer to the railway while continuing to use water from the Allt Dearg burn. Later owners included Hiram Walker, and Inver House Distillers acquired Balblair in 1996.
