Spirit of Yorkshire Filey Bay Double Oak #1 Single Malt Whisky
Out of stock
A distinctive and unusual Single Malt, is created by maturing their single malt whisky in both ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks (53% column distillate and 47% pot). Very different from anything they’ve released before, the virgin oak brings fruity and spicy notes, whilst the ex-bourbon casks balance this with vanilla and toffee flavours.
As with every Filey Bay Whisky, Double Oak #1 is made from field to bottle in Hunmanby on the Yorkshire Coast.
Using 100% homegrown barley and water sourced from beneath their farm, it’s not just made in Yorkshire, it’s made of Yorkshire.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Radiant amber-gold with coppery highlights and a honeyed depth, warm and inviting like sunset over barley fields.
Nose
Rich vanilla and toffee rise from the glass, balanced by creamy oak. Virgin oak delivers a bright, spicy-fruity lift with pear and peach, while ex-bourbon influence threads in caramel and baking spice for a lush, inviting aroma.
Palate
Silky and medium-full on the palate, orchard fruits—pear and apple—framed by subtle spice. Vanilla and toffee from the ex-bourbon influence mingle with a creamy texture, leading to a warm, oak-tinged finish that lingers with sweet spice.
Finish
Long, silky finish with vanilla and toffee sweetness from the ex-bourbon influence, balanced by fruity, spicy lift from the virgin oak. A gentle oak resonance lingers, warming the palate with a soft spice and coastal sweetness that fades to a refined, lingering glow.
