Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a rich mahogany core and copper-gold highlights, a bronzed, wine-stain glow.
Nose
Port Ellen's signature peat and sea-air rise from the glass: smoked barley, iodine and brine mingle with seasoned oak and leather, while dark fruit and treacle drift in the background, hinting at cask-strength depth and quiet luxury.
Palate
On the palate, Port Ellen delivers regal Islay power: dense peat smoke, maritime salt and sherry sweetness mingle with dried fig and dark chocolate. An opulent, oily mouthfeel coats the tongue, with warming spice and a hint of iodine. The 51.1% ABV drives a long, smoky finish with leather, toasted oak and lingering coastal complexity.
Finish
An expansive, warming finish that lingers with coastal peat, dark chocolate, and dried fruit. Subtle sherry-kissed sweetness threads through leather and tobacco, while sea salt and pepper drift in the background. The cask-strength glow coats the palate, fading to a long, resinous finale that remains elegant, powerful, and memorably coastal.
