Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with a rich mahogany edge and coppery undertones.
Nose
Coastal peat and sea-salt smoke, edged with iodine and a briny kiss. Rich sherry fruit unfurls—raisin, fig, dark plum—alongside polished oak. Velvet leather, cocoa nib, and a trace of spice mingle, giving a refined, old-library aura that hints at time-softened whiskey and maritime calm.
Palate
Silky, waxy on the tongue, this Port Ellen opens with deep peat, iodine and coastal brine. Sherry-influenced fruit emerges—figs, dried cherry, cocoa—alongside leather and almond. A delicate spice and orange zest lift the midpalate, guiding a long, refined finish of smoke, oak and sea-salt.
Finish
Long, warming finish where peat and sea-salt linger, edging into burnt orange zest and dark cocoa. Sherry-rich fruits cling to the palate, with resinous oak, Christmas spice, and a final whisper of smoke that slowly fades into a polished, velvety warmth.
