The Macallan Speymalt Single Malt Scotch Whisky 28 Year Old · 1988 Vintage
In stock
Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with copper-gold glints and a mahogany edge.
Nose
Opulent sherry notes unfold with dried figs, raisins and plums, caressed by orange zest, dark chocolate, toffee and vanilla. Cinnamon and clove thread through toasted almond and polished oak, delivering a refined, resinous spice and a luxurious, lasting finish.
Palate
Silky and richly layered, it coats the palate with dried fruits, orange zest and toffee, underscored by gentle spice. Sherry-softened oak delivers vanilla and cocoa, leading to a long, refined finish of orange marmalade, ginger and a whisper of tobacco.
Finish
An enduring, silky finish that lingers with warm, refined oak. Dried citrus and plum drift into toffee, while cinnamon and nutmeg leave a delicate spice trail. Subtle sherry notes and dark chocolate coat the palate, fading to a polished Speyside echo that invites the next, lingering sip.
