Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a coppery gleam and mahogany undertones, a warm, sunlit glow that hints at sherry-influenced richness.
Nose
Smoldering peat and sea spray define the nose, with iodine, mineral brine and a whisper of ash. Beneath, sweet citrus peel, honeyed vanilla and dried fruit notes unfold, wrapped in warm oak with a hint of sherry spice.
Palate
On the palate, Port Ellen reveals a dense plume of maritime peat, briny and waxy at first, then lush with salted caramel and dark chocolate. Dried fruit accents, a whisper of iodine and ash, and a touch of spice drift through the mid-palate. The finish is long and refined, with lingering peat, citrus zest, and oak.
Finish
An enduring coastal finish of peat smoke, sea salt and ash, unfolding into dried fig and dark chocolate, then a spiced warmth that lingers softly, with a final whisper of leather and oak.
