Nikka Miyagikyo Apple Brandy Wood Finish Single Malt Japanese Whisky
In stock
Released to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Masataka and Rita Taketsuru getting married and a nod to the early days of the business when apple juice and then apple brandy were produced.
This Miyagikyo Single Malt has been finished in Apple Brandy barrels and bottled in 2020. Apples are a strong symbol for Nikka and often associated with the relationship with Rita and Masataka Taketsuru, as he started his business activity with the production of apple juices and jams while awaiting the maturation of his first whiskies.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Sunlit golden amber with a warm honey-copper glow, radiant and inviting, hinting at orchard sweetness and caramelized fruit.
Nose
Opulent and orchard-fresh, the nose opens with bright apple and juicy pear, while the malt adds cereal notes and a hint of leather. A second wave of fruit rises, carrying banana and ripe peach, yielding a layered, inviting aromatic profile.
Palate
Elegant and silky at the onset, a concentrated fruit core shines through. Subtle peat rises softly, balanced by integrated wood notes and a sherry nuance that adds depth and grace to the mid-palate.
Finish
Long, complex finish with white fruits—pears—lingering beside toasted bread. A refined thread of liquorice and vanilla blooms at the end, leaving a balanced, lingering warmth.
