The annual limited release Mars. Komagatake 2019 is an excellent single malt produced at the Mars Shinshu distillery and like its 2018 predecessor, it is a combination of peated and unpeated malts and is matured in a combination of bourbon barrels and other types of casks.
Clean and refreshing, this has an array of flavours, including sweet orange marmalade, apricot, gentle vanilla, melon and soft oak. It’s a gentle and smooth and not overly complex drinking whisky that keeps you coming back for more. As a limited edition release of around 10,000 bottles.

Colour
Pale gold with a delicate sunlit amber glow.
Nose
Clean and refreshing on the nose, with bright citrus marmalade and apricot, intertwined with melon sweetness, subtle vanilla and soft oak. A gentle, approachable aroma that speaks of fruit and warm wood, inviting the first sip.
Palate
Bright orange marmalade and apricot open the palate, with crisp melon and a veil of gentle vanilla. A soft oak backbone lends subtle structure, while the mingling of peated and unpeated malts keeps it refreshingly balanced. Silky and smooth, it coats the mouth with delicate fruit and a clean, approachable sweetness.
Finish
Bright and clean, the finish lingers with orange marmalade and apricot, a whisper of vanilla and melon, and a gentle kiss of soft oak.
